Berkeley County. Commandanten ten velde: Thomas & Cadwaller (US) en Stuart & Jackson (CS). Niveau: brigades. Historische verliezen: US: 23, CS 91 (US overwinning). Cadwaller/Thomas:
4 orderkaarten - US opent het gevecht. Overwinningscriteria: CS dienen 3 US eenheden uit te schakelen (= 3 punten). ingeval van US overwinning: +2 punten. Mogelijk totaal: 6 punten. CS overwinning: +3 punten. Mogelijk totaal: 6 punten.

This Battle is also known as "Hoke's Run" or "Hainesville", is part of the Manassas Campaign (Bull Run) and situated in Berkeley County.
Commanders in the field: Thomas & Cadwaller [US]; Stuart & Jackson
[CS]. Estimated Casualties:114 total (US 23; CS 91) (US victory). On July 2, Maj. Gen. Robert Pattersons division crossed the Potomac River near Williamsport and marched on the main road to Martinsburg. Near Hokes Run, Abercrombies and Thomass brigades encountered regiments of T.J. Jacksons brigade, driving them back slowly. Jacksons orders were to delay the Federal advance only, which he did, withdrawing before Pattersons larger force. On July 3, Patterson occupied Martinsburg but made no further aggressive moves until July 15, when he marched to Bunker Hill. Instead of moving on Winchester, however, Patterson turned east to Charles Town and then withdrew to Harpers Ferry. This retrograde movement took pressure off Confederate forces in the Shenandoah Valley and allowed Johnstons army to march to support Brig. Gen. P.G.T. Beauregard at Manassas. Pattersons inactivity contributed to the Union defeat at 1st Manassas (1st Bull Run). Cadwaller/Thomas:
4 command cards - US moves first. Victory
Conditions: CS has to eliminiate 3 US units (= 3 points). In case of a US victory: +2 points. Possible grand total: 6 points. In case of a CS victory: +3 points. Possible grand total: 6 points.
