WORLD WAR ONE AIRCRAFT
the items shown in the pictures below are all on display in the Belgian Royal Museum of the Army and Military History in Brussels.
This is only a (small) part of the WWI section of the museum.

The pictures shown below have been taken by the author in order to provide some (extra) information about the "real thing",
thus assisting fellow-wargamers in painting, modelling and building their miniature armies.


HANRIOT-DUPONT HD-1 (Gnôme-Rhône - 120 hp):
lenght 6 m - span 8.51 m - height: 2.65 m -
weight: 605 kg - crew: 1 - max. altitude: 6300 m - range: 350 km - max. speed: 185 km/h - 1 Vickers synchro MG. Used intensively by the Belgians during WW1 (80 aircraft of this type). Remained in service untill 1926.

SOPWITH F1 CAMEL (Clerget 9B - 130 hp):

(Hisp. Suiza 8 1A - 150 hp):
In 1917 the "Escadrille de Calais" received 5 of these flying boats for reconnaissance at sea and attacking submarines. Crew: 2 - 1 Vickers MG -
